INDIANA FORECLOSURES UP 6 PERCENT IN NOVEMBER

ACCORDING TO REALTYTRAC™ U.S. FORECLOSURE MARKET REPORT

Activity Up 33 Percent From a Year Ago; Foreclosure Rate in Top 10

IRVINE, Calif. – Dec. 11, 2006 – Indiana reported 3,735 properties entering some stage of the foreclosure process in November, a 6 percent increase from the 3,507 properties reported in October, and up 33 percent from the 2,800 properties reported for the same month last year, according to the RealtyTrac™ U.S. Foreclosure Market Report. The state documented the ninth highest foreclosure rate in the nation for the month — reporting one new foreclosure filing for every 676 households.

RealtyTrac publishes the largest and most comprehensive national database of pre-foreclosure and foreclosure properties, with over 700,000 properties from nearly 2,500 counties across the country, and is the foreclosure data provider to MSN Real Estate, Yahoo! Real Estate and The Wall Street Journal’s Real Estate Journal.

“The rate of job growth in Indiana has improved slightly, but still remains well below the national average,” said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac. “But Indiana foreclosure rates are continuing to rise, which could be a byproduct of slow home price appreciation and resetting adjustable-rate mortgages.”

Indiana’s foreclosure total was the 11th highest in the county for November, although California, Texas, Florida and Ohio registered totals that were twice as high as Indiana during the month. California led the nation, with 19,248, followed by Texas, with 13,664, Florida, with 9,362, and Ohio, with 8,200 properties in the foreclosure pipeline.

Marion County accounts for more than one-third of state total

Reporting 1,444 properties entering some stage of the foreclosure process, Marion County accounted for 39 percent of all foreclosures in Indiana for November. The next highest total was found in Lake County, which reported 439 properties entering some stage of the foreclosure process, followed by Allen County, where 241 foreclosures were reported.

Madison, Marion and Wayne counties post state’s highest rates

Madison County, reporting one new foreclosure filing for every 250 households — 2.7 times the state average and 3.8 times the national average — posted the highest foreclosure rate in Indiana for November. The next highest rate was reported in Marion County, with one new foreclosure filing for every 268 households — 2.5 times the state average and 3.6 times the national average. Wayne County posted the third highest foreclosure rate, one new foreclosure filing for every 305 households — 2.2 times the state average and 3.2 times the national average.

Indiana accounted for 1.4 percent of the 120,334 properties entering some stage of foreclosure nationwide in November. The national total represents a 4 percent increase in activity from the 115,568 foreclosures reported in October. The nation’s foreclosure rate increased to one new foreclosure filing for every 961 households during the month.

The RealtyTrac Monthly U.S. Foreclosure Market Report provides the total number of homes in some stage of foreclosure nationwide, by state and by county. RealtyTrac’s report includes properties in all three phases of foreclosure: Pre-foreclosures — Notice of Default (NOD) and Lis Pendens (LIS); Foreclosures — Notice of Trustee Sale and Notice of Foreclosure Sale (NTS and NFS); and Real Estate Owned, or REO properties (that have been foreclosed on and repurchased by a bank).
