Mercy Leads Parents to First-Time Homeownership

Mercy Karikari wanted to buy a home for her parents.

“My parents have lived in the United States for 32 years but had never owned their own place,”  explained Karikari, a telecommunications expert in the U.S. military.  “I wanted to do something nice for them. I wanted to buy a house for them and visit them when I returned from my military deployments. I looked and looked for a nice place for them but I didn’t find anything I liked.”

That’s when the Alexandria, Va., buyer submitted an inquiry  on RealtyTrac and was contacted by a RealtyTrac member services representative  JP, who introduced her to Realtor Trish Corvelli, one of the thousands of  agents nationwide in the RealtyTrac Agent Network.

“Within a week Trish had found a place close to my parents,”  recalled Karikari, who is working to obtain a Master’s Degree through the GI Bill.  “But after the inspection, I got nervous because we found some issues with the  piping.”

Corvelli finally found a brand new townhouse for Mercy and  her parents in the community of Ashburn, near Leesburg in Loudoun County, Va.,  one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation.

“It’s absolutely beautiful,” said Karikari, describing the  brand new construction. “It has the highest upgrades, lots of light, hardwood  flooring, three bedrooms, two baths and about 1,500 square feet of living  space.”

She said the two-story end unit, with a garage is turnkey  and perfect for her parents, who are getting older.

“Probably in the next three to four years, I will buy another  home for myself and my fiancée,” said Karikari. “I’ll definitely use Trish  again.”
