Homeowners who list their homes in the winter usually are more motivated to sell, according to a new infographic from Veterans United. Nationwide, winter is a slower time for real estate sales because buyers hibernate, inventory shrinks and sales slow.

RealtyTrac residential sales data shows that since the year 2000, U.S. homes sold during the winter months of December, January and February had a sale price that was an average of 2 percent lower than homes sold during the rest of the year, and for the past two years that winter discount has been 7 percent.
