Hurricanes: A Heat Map

A recent report by RealtyTrac shows that 29 percent of homes worth an estimated $4.7 trillion are in counties with a High or Very High hurricane risk. RealtyTrac identified counties with Very High or High hurricane risk. The hurricane risk score is based on historical hurricane activity data from 2001 to 2013 that ranks hurricane risk in each county on a scale from 0 to 456,668. The top 5 counties with High and Very High hurricane risks are Kings County, New York (998,773), Miami-Dade County, Florida (989,364), New York County, New York (846,819), Queens County, New York (836,722) and Palm Beach County, Florida (663,599).
