IDAHO FORECLOSURE ACTIVITY UP 11 PERCENT IN NOVEMBER

ACCORDING TO REALTYTRAC® U.S. FORECLOSURE MARKET REPORT

 

Yearly Total Up 188 Percent From November 2006

 

IRVINE, Calif. – Dec. 19, 2007 – Idaho reported 667 foreclosure filings in November, an 11 percent increase from the previous month, and a 188 percent increase from November 2006006, according to the latest RealtyTrac® U.S. Foreclosure Market Report.

Idaho foreclosures are up both in November and from this time last year,” said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac. “Statistics show that the state’s job market has slowed in 2007. This may be contributing to the overall increase.”

 

Idaho ranked 31st in the country in total foreclosures reported for the month. The state’s foreclosure rate of one foreclosure filing for every 893 households ranked it 18th among the 50 states.

 

Ada County accounts for bulk of foreclosure total

Ada County reported the highest foreclosure total in Idaho for November, with 260 foreclosure filings for the month. Canyon County posted the second highest foreclosure total, with 187 foreclosure filings for the month, followed by Kootenai County with 65 foreclosure filings.

 

Highest foreclosure rate reported in Canyon County

Canyon County reported the highest county foreclosure rate in Idaho for November, one foreclosure filing for every 324 households — 2.8 times the state average and 1.9 times the national average. Butte County posted the second highest foreclosure rate, one foreclosure filing for every 430 households — 2.1 times the state average. Payette County reported the third highest foreclosure rate, one filing for every 504 households — 1.8 times the state average.

 

State contributes less than 1 percent to nation’s monthly total

Total foreclosure filings in Idaho accounted for less than 1 percent of the 201,950 foreclosure filings reported nationwide in November. The national total represents a 10 percent decrease from the previous month, but is still 68 percent above the total reported for November 2006. The nation’s foreclosure rate decreased to one foreclosure filing for every 617 U.S. households for the month.
