ARKANSAS FORECLOSURES DECREASE 11 PERCENT IN MAY

ACCORDING TO REALTYTRAC™ U.S. FORECLOSURE MARKET REPORT

 

Activity Up 48 Percent From June 2006

 

IRVINE, Calif. – July 31, 2007 – Arkansas reported 1,234 foreclosure filings in June, an 11 percent decrease from the previous month, but still 48 percent above the number reported in June 2006, according to the latest RealtyTrac® U.S. Foreclosure Market Report.

Arkansas’ economic expansion and job growth are on the decline, with losses being reported in the state’s manufacturing, trade, transportation and utilities sectors,” said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac. “Despite such losses on the employment side the state is still seeing a slight month-to-month decline in foreclosure activity.”

 

Arkansas ranked 23rd in the country in total foreclosures reported for June. The state’s foreclosure rate of one foreclosure filing for every 951 households ranked 16th among the 50 states.

 

Pulaski County leads all in foreclosure activity for June

Pulaski County led the state in foreclosure activity for June, reporting 277 filings. Benton County reported the second highest county total with 140 filings. Washington County came in third with 116 filings for the foreclosure pipeline.

 

Highest foreclosure rate reported in Garland County

Garland County posted the highest foreclosure rate in the state, one foreclosure filing for every 420 households — 2.3 times the state average and 1.7 times the national average. Benton County posted the second highest foreclosure rate in the state, one foreclosure filing for every 459 households — 2.1 times the state average and 1.5 times the national average. Third highest foreclosure rate was reported in Washington County, one foreclosure filing for every 555 households — 1.7 times the state average and 1.3 times the national average.

 

State a minor contributor to national total

Total foreclosure filings in Arkansas accounted for less than 1 percent of the 164,644 foreclosure filings nationwide in June. The national total was down 7 percent from the previous month but still up 87 percent from June 2006. The nation’s foreclosure rate decreased to one foreclosure filing for every 704 U.S. households for the month.
