In its quest for the coolest statistics, RealtyTrac has posted a new report on U.S. population centers that most love central air.
Based on its own data, RealtyTrac tabulated homes with air conditioning in U.S. cities of more than 100,000 residents. Predictably, three Texas cities – Houston, Dallas and San Antonio – rank in the Top Ten along with Las Vegas, the Florida cities of Orlando and Jacksonville, and St. Louis, Missouri, Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte, North Carolina and Indianapolis, Indiana.
The list also suggests that both humidity and heat drive air conditioning sales. While San Antonio, Las Vegas and Phoenix rank among U.S. cities with the most days over 99 degrees each year, according to Current Results website, Miami and Portland are among the most humid. Curiously, Houston, number two on RealtyTrac’s list, is among the hottest and most humid while chart-topper Chicago is not on either.
