Gender Trends: Women’s Movement

There are millions more women than men in the United States, but that only amounts to about a one-percent differential, with woman just above 50 percent and men just below that halfway mark.

If a general lack of competitiveness or a preference for the gentler gender has you seeking a community with a staggeringly high ratio of women (or lower ratio of men), RealtyTrac now offers a “heat map” that’s right up your alley.

Based on U.S. population figures for 2012, the report shows there is a zip code in Shipman, Virginia with 70 percent women. Granted, there are less than 2,000 people living there. But just as testosterone-challenged is a section of Nashville, Tennessee, which puts you on the doorstep of America’s country music capital. There, 67.6 percent of your neighbors are female.

There are two more highly populated zip codes in California, Chowchilla with 24,000 residents and Laguna Hills with 16,000, where approximately two-thirds are women. Expect midweek Guys Drink Free promotions in those areas.

Below, based on a 2012 Census date showing zip codes with a population over 500, are the top 15 zip codes in the study. For a complete report, or any questions on this or our many other datasets, please contact our PR Department directly at pr@realtytrac.com.
