More Integrated Mapping
RealtyTrac recently integrated a mapping link into its search results pages, allowing
users to access the website’s interactive mapping and aerial photography interface more
conveniently. RealtyTrac members can simply click the map icon next to any property
listed on the search results page.
RealtyTrac introduced the new mapping interface — built on Microsoft Virtual Earth
technology — in August, making it the only national foreclosure data provider to
integrate a comprehensive mapping solution into its website. Since then, RealtyTrac
has gradually phased the mapping technology into different areas of the website.
When RealtyTrac visitors enter the map page, they will see icons representing all of
the foreclosure properties in the RealtyTrac database that are located within the map
area. Site users will be able to use aerial imagery and interactive mapping features to
look for homes in a two dimensional street level map, a top-down aerial satellite view
or a birds-eye view showing remarkably clear and detailed images of properties.
"High-definition interactive mapping is revolutionizing how the real estate
industry and consumers look for homes," said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer
of RealtyTrac. "Our customers now have the ability to immerse themselves in a highly
interactive mapping environment, and actually conduct their property search without
ever leaving the map."
This technology gives RealtyTrac subscribers a better way to visualize properties from
multiple vantage points. Moreover, on-screen navigational tools enable users to move
in different directions, zoom in closer to a particular property or zoom out for a
broader view.
Look for new mapping features to be added in the near future.
