RealtyTrac is reporting that foreclosure activity increased 4 percent nationwide in July. One in every 397 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing during the month. The good news is that foreclosure activity is down almost 10 percent from a year ago. RealtyTrac Senior Vice President Rick Sharga said that a drop in activity was probably inevitable, however, since the activity level reported back in July 2009 was the second highest total on record.
