RealtyTrac executive to focus on foreclosure trends and the national economy.
IRVINE, Calif. – June 23, 2008 – Rick Sharga, vice president of marketing at RealtyTrac™ (http://www.realtytrac.com/), the leading online marketplace for foreclosure properties, will be a featured speaker at a number of national real estate conferences during September.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Sharga will give a historical perspective of the past, present and future of the foreclosure phenomenon that has a stranglehold on the national economy during his session at the 2008 Housing Summit hosted by Zelman & Associates. Held at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving, Texas, Sharga’s session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
From there Sharga goes on to speak at three sessions during the Five Star 2008 Default Servicing Conference and Expo at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, set to run from Wednesday, Sept. 17, through Saturday, Sept. 20. Sharga’s first session — “Successful Workout Solutions” — begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18. His second session — “The Future of Real Estate” — begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept., 19, followed at 5 p.m. by his last session — “The Mind of the Media.”
Then on Sunday, Sept. 28, Sharga winds up the month with a presentation at the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Marketing Convention and Expo. Held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz., Sharga participates as a panelist in the educational breakout session — “How to Leverage the Foreclosure Market” — beginning at 1:15 p.m.
“The dynamics of the nation’s real estate market have done an abrupt about-face in little more than a year,” said Sharga. “Although we don’t have the high interest rates that existed back in the early 1990s, the labor market continues to shed jobs, bankruptcies are up and the foreclosure floodgates are wide open just like they were more than a decade ago. Once again history repeats itself, and as a result there is an abundance of foreclosure properties available that lenders want to get off of their books.”
According to the RealtyTrac U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for July 2008, the nation’s foreclosure activity rose almost 8 percent from the previous month and 55 percent from the same month in 2007. One in every 464 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing during July.
Thanks in large part to public relation efforts led by Sharga, RealtyTrac has come to be known as the go-to source for foreclosure information by the national media — broadcast, Web-based and print — and is relied on for foreclosure data by myriad state and federal governmental entities, including the U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee, the U.S. Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve, the FBI and the New York State Banking Department.
Sharga is responsible for building and maintaining the RealtyTrac brand, corporate positioning and messaging, public relations and investor relations, as well as all sales and marketing communications activities. As a spokesman for the company, Sharga has been widely quoted by the news media on subjects ranging from foreclosure trends to general real estate and financial market conditions, mortgage banking, interest rates and technology.
He has appeared on NBC Nightly News, CNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC World News Tonight, Fox, Bloomberg and NPR. He is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and many other major daily newspapers.
Prior to joining RealtyTrac in 2004, Sharga spent more than 20 years developing corporate and product branding strategies for technology start-up companies and international corporations such as DuPont, Fujitsu, Hitachi and Toshiba. He began his career with one of the world’s largest ad agencies — Foote, Cone and Belding — and also had successful engagements with Ketchum Communications and McGraw-Hill.
