Houghton has been hired as chief information officer/chief technology officer. In this position, Houghton will oversee RealtyTrac’s IT and technology departments, while increasing efficiencies in RealtyTrac’s corporate business processes.

Houghton has more than 25 years of technology experience in operations, management and IT applications across a variety of companies. For eight years, Houghton held several senior management positions at Western Digital Corporation, where he began as director of IS for North America and rose to CIO for the IT division. At Western Digital, Houghton's work enhanced profitability and streamlined both manufacturing operations and business processes. Prior to Western Digital, Houghton was a manager of global training and technology for Adaptec's Business Information Solutions Group. Houghton began his career in programming and has advanced in responsibility with a variety of organizations, including Litton and Johns Hopkins.
Houghton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. Additionally, he has taken post-graduate training in information systems management and holds project management and other professional certifications.
